I don't know what happened here, but:NJT crews are far too permissive in letting people ride out in the vestibules. It would be OK, but too many people lack common sense and stand right on the plates between the cars, anmd of course do not pout their devices down for a split second. Not only could could you get a pedicure you would never forget, but the offset between cars can reduce the gangway width to a foot when the train zigzags on switches. |

From what I have seen, most railroads are. It's funny, but I have always found myself discouraging people from riding in vestibules on Bomb trains, but to be honest, it would require CONSTANT attention from a train crew to make that so, and with on-board duties and operational duties, it is just not possible to effectively enforce. |
