Yeah, one of the benefits of doing it through our own servers is that all I get is email. If I want to see anything other than the text, I have to ask for it. If it's spammy, then it gets emailed to our customer service manager, Dev Null. :) |

Spam still gets through but very little compared with what it cans. Viruses do not get through so easily either.Perfect, no, good enough for what we are paying for it, yes. ROAR |

Along with enough wrigglies to keep the Orkin man from retiring. I always figured you for the BSD type in all sincerity. Once you get it installed and configured, it stays up and you can play with your trains more. :) |

I do not know enough about Linux/Unix systems to make much use of them. I do have a SUSE box up and running, but I seldom look at it. People here are just not interested in looking at alternative universii.Even I have trouble figuring out what I can make it do. Not to say that I can run the latest versions of it. The boxes that I put it on afe far too old to support the newest stuff, and I'll not buy a new box to put on a system I do not understand. Let me understand the old virgins of it and see what I can make it do. Your suggestions are appreciated. ROAR |

No worries ... and I've found Linux to be beyond annoyance with its user-hostility and constant unnecessary changes. Be grateful you've never had to deal with "systemd" or any of the many other penguinisms. That's why we went for BSD for making KNOS desktops. BSD is extremely difficult in that environment for setup and use, and is quite user-hostile as well. We tamed it and made it perfect for grandma and those folks in the corner office. Be happy to hook you up with a copy, you know the email address, hasn't changed. FreeBSD was designed specifically to bring up servers that are solid, reliable and easy to maintain. Yahoo, Paypal, and a raft of other major sites run on it. And it works out great for small operations as well. It was the server side and admin I was thinking of in your case. KNOS is strictly a client OS. And besides ... the FreeBSD logo itself might help keep the Abbot away from your choochoos. :) |
