Per the service advisory, Jamaica-bound F trains skip Van Wyck Blvd and Sutphin Blvd (All times until 5 AM Monday, Sep 22) |

Sorry I wasn't clear. I already knew about the construction project. The F train was on the express track, but any train on the northbound express track at the Briarwood Van Wyck station wanting to access the northbound Hillside Ave express track must come to a complete stop, and the T/O must punch for the n/b express track. If the trains no longer have to punch for n/b express track then this means that the n/b 179TH St bound E trains can go express just like the s/b E trains that depart 179TH St. |

I think they deliberately route N/B PM rush hour 179 St E trains via the local track (instead of the express track) so as not to confuse passengers (expecially at Union Turnpike) into thinking that train is going to Archer Av. |

I worked one of those 179 E intervals a few years ago. These go local past CTL like the F does. If not by timetable, then by orders of the superintendant. |

It also simplifies operations at Briarwood since all trains on the local track go to 179; all trains on the express track go to Archer. |

An F train lays up on the 179th bound express track before the first 179th E gets there anyway... Those PM E put ins out of 179th go express all the way down to CTL though. |

That had a lot to do with it too. The line-up were fleeted in so as to avoid delays. |

This has been discussed here so many times before, but until now I have never heard a sensible explanation for this practice. The idea of not diverging and remerging the 179 E's and the F's actually explains everything. |

I'd put it on YouTube, but it's buried among thousands of other video clips with no names or indexing. And because I'm pretty sure posting a 480p video these days is punishable by a mandatory public tomato throwing. |

No need to add film noise. Crappy camcorder in low-light conditions generates its own noise. |
