There isn't even a local to express interlocking on the southbound side north of Canal - it's south of Canal. Had to dig up the track map myself because I thought it was there, but turns out it was south of Canal. |

I did what was suggested as did most others who came on board. Back in those days everyone wanted to do their very best, the system paid very well and you did what was expected. Was it a fireable offense? No. You just did it. |

Yep ... exactly the reason why we were told that we should post the lines on our own and learn there. As to buffs, got told by Paul and others to keep that stuff on the down low because there were lots of folks who really didn't like buffs. |

There were always some, like myself, who made it a point to look out the RFW while riding, even long before transit employment. Got me familiar with the layout and line-ups. We would give out pointers at lunch. But some instructors shun this worrying wrong info was being disseminated.Today even "the some" are being deprived thanks to transverse cabs that if made correctly could be folded back when it's not at the c/r position or if the t/o has a student or TSS riding. Guess they don't want the public to see the filthy and garbage strewn right of way. |

They've said they're afraid that terriers might see the magic switchpoints and hijack a train to Cuba. :)Yeha, forgot all about the lack of RFW's these days. I guess the solution is to place a couch in the cab so that folks can see what they're posting. And yeah, I made it a point to know anyplace I might end up and as long as the lead car was quiet, MM would leave the door open and tell me what was coming up before we got there. |

If the train was preceding northbound on A3 track from A5 Chambers, when it hit the home signals that protect the crossover for A1-A3, why did the home signals not trip the train? Would they have been 'fleeted'? |

The Daily News should do an article on the two seperate incidents when Conductors opened all the train doors at 145th Street ('3' line). These two incidents happened within three days of each other a few months ago. For the posters who dont know this is a short platform and only the front section is supposed to be opened. The Conductors did not report the incident until the train arrived at 148th Street. No when ever walked around the trains to check if anyone fell out when the doors opened. |

In Signal Tower of LION, lever 3 controls the home signal at Dyckman Street. It cannot be reversed unless the train is aligned to a vacant track at 242nd Street. IF Lever 3 *is* reversed then the home signal at Botanic Garden will not clear, holding the train there until it is, thus preventing that train from proceeding all the way into 242nd Street Station and rear ending the train standing there.ROAR |

If she's one of these "TA females" who is even slightly attractive and gets what she wants from the Crew Office and is treated like gold by management, she'll be resented. And that means she has enemies who saw an opportunity to strike out against her. |

There IS a way to find out though, rear window of a 32, look out the back. I'm sure if she saw reds, she would have stopped. This sort of incident is considered a collision (without contact) because trains are on a collision course. Unless there were home signals between the two trains, signaling would only stop the train going in the correct direction but would not stop the train going in the reverse direction. |

Yeah, never got to see any of that because I always ran on the right track. :)Only thing I ever saw facing the "wrong way" was the pairs of red "fire my ass" snake eyes. :) |

If so, were they southbound passengers now going north. Passengers standing on the northbound platform would not see passengers detraining at the southbound express track. If they made an announcement that the N/B passengers should go upstairs to the S/B platform, then the dispatcher is also in hot water as the relay is probably not revenue track. Should be an interesting investigation. |
