Who says the subway scenes to be authentic? But with that said a few co-workers actually walked out during the screening. With those reviews,I have no intentions of seeing it. The one made in Toronto was bad enough. |

I know the correct spelling because he and his brother Henry (a non-actor) were baby-sat by my wife's grandmother back in the depression and Henry and his wife were guests at my wedding in 1973. |

I think I saw it in the movies and it stunk to high heaven.A terrible story that doesn't pay homage to the original. Bad acting Travolta was less than convincing as a bad guy and Denzel Washington portrayed a poor, unemotional schmuck that you didn't care about. Add those comments to the previous comments about the unrealistic subway scenes and dialogue. You've got good reason not to see it. And being a subway employee would make you sick. After all they wanted you to believe that you can have a one seat ride from 68th St. (Hunter College) on the Lexington Ave #6 not to Stillwell Ave. but to a non-existent Coney Island Station. Did those left coast Hollywood idiots think that they could fool a ew Yorker. Guess most of them forgot their roots. |

It's not nearly as bad as "The Taking of Bloor-Danforth 1-2-3" and if you set aside the inaccuracies of the subway system and its equipment, it's a decent crime story.--Mark |

The idea of making movies, unless specified by the movie that it's based on real events or is a true story, is to create fictional situations for entertainment purposes. If I wanted facts, I'd go to the Information Please Almanac.--Mark |

Here's why.(1) Tom Pedi as Caz Dolowicz. An unforgettable character. ("WHO WANTS TO KNOW??") (2) The footage of the NYC subway in 1974 is great to see, even if the redress of the Court Street station as 28th Street was a bit cheesy. (3) Great acting by talented people who were pure NYC: Matthau, Jerry Stiller, Doris Roberts, Tony Roberts...and on and on. Even the bit actors who played Mrs. Jenkins, the Controller and the two cops who delivered the money were spot on. (4) The music. It was a movie that did not need to be remade, and should not have been remade. |
