Thanks man!To answer your question, all the pictures were taken at public locations; anyone can see the R38 pair and the D-Type on the same track very easily. Here's how. First, walk along Lincoln Avenue. You'll be walking towards the direction of Linden Blvd. You'll pass a supermarket along the way. Keep going straight on Lincoln until you'll see a ramp heading up. Don't walk up that ramp, unless you want to catch a glimpse of the back and of the R38 pair. Instead, keep walking straight until you see a downhill ramp heading towards Linden Blvd and a firehouse. Walk up that ramp. Halfway up, you'll see the R38s and the D-Type cars through the gate. To see the pair of R30s and the R27, walk to the corner of Linden Blvd. and Eldert Lane. You'll see a bus stop. At that bus stop, you'll see a driveway heading uphill. Walk up that driveway and stay to your right along the fence. It's a very short walk. 8145 is on track 9, 8463 on track 8, and 8558 on track 7. |

It doesn't appear to have rust holes or any type of external rusting in general from what I can see compared to to what's seen on the redbirds. That's a good thing. As for everything else, well I can't answer that question. The other shots you took are great including 6112 and 4028. Thanks for posting. |

Thanks.8145 is covered in dust and would need a cleaning. Cosmetically, it looks sound. Inside? Who knows. We'll see what happens with that one. Same deal about dust with 8463. Even the D-Types seemed covered in dust. |

But is it worth the cost to fix them up? Much as I'd want to keep them because they are the surviving 'pair' of the Willy B crash, I'd rather they focus on getting their other cars back in running condition like the R30s. |

Nice catches and pics!! :-)Of note, R40M 4460 and R42 4665 had eachothers mate destroyed in the 1995 Williamsburg Bridge wreck. I remember twice when working the M during my TA days, and each time I felt a weird chill come over when I had found out the history of the cars, and why an R42 and an R40M were mismated into a married pair. |
