They seem to have done a LOT of work for the US Open, between the temporary platforms and the overpass! Is it all going away after tomorrow?

Nice. Is there really no fencing between the ROW and wherever you took the photos near King Manor?

I don't know how many double-headers are needed to fill the line with a ten minute headway, but they seem to be able to use the existing fleet for that (26 available cars). Some cars are probably in the shop, so let's say they can run 22 of them or 11 double header runs.
So, and I may be wrong, It appears they have enough cars to run to Norristown, and if it ever gets built in my lifetime, the King of Prussia spur at the same time?

Chuchubob or others,comments?

Trip length is 30 minutes northbound and 29 minutes southbound. There is a 2 minute difference between arrivals and departures at Norristown and 9 minutes at 69th St. Since the photo above shows the other track at Norristown empty, it I assume the Norristown procedure implies changing ends and leaving right away with no layover.

This means 7 trains, or 14 cars plus protects, are required.

You have to allow for operator restroom stops. Looks like 69th St. with the 9 minutes is the choice. You can use the tiny restroom near the NHSL, or walk real fast and back to the SEPTA employee restroom.

Thanks for your explanation.

With the speed restriction on the single track Bridgeport viaduct, an outbound train would pull into Norristown and the other one would leave right away.

Excellent photos. Do you know if they issued any sort of operating instructions along the line for the cartball tournament? I'd think the USGA would have problems with T/Os blowing their horn through there.

I'm surprised that it was never a consideration to make the P&W an extension of the MFSE when it was closed and in the midst of rebuilding. Certainly no chance of restoration of service to Allentown with the demise of the Liberty Bell service.

Here is some information from a guy at SEPTA. They ran everything they had, almost for the Golf.

I had heard there were 24 cars in service at times this week and Transportation wanted more. They only have 26 and one car (I forget which one) is OOS for VOH. They're basically running everything they have.

As for KofP, they're running 17 cars on a normal weekday schedule now. The KofP service would only require a few more cars. So they could run that service with the existing fleet. As it is now, the P&W and Media Sharon Hill are the only locations that have the luxury to do things like have cars out of service during the day for housecleaning, routine safety inspections and stuff like that. Anywhere else that stuff has to be done at night when the cars and buses are available. The P&W doesn't even have 2nd or 3rd shifts presently.
