That's the only time the old BG-SF shuttle would be running, and then only when there is not enough capacity to send the (6) to BG and old SF.The part forgotten in my plan is the (6) would also head into lower Manhattan during off hours, which would seriously increase off-hour service between BB and BG to an area that has become much more heavily residential in recent years. |

Well, judging from that document, the connection would be near the platform escalators to the left of the turnstiles nearest the escalators near the ferry terminal.Given that, I think that I see the connection in the embedded video. Here's what old South Ferry looks like as of a couple of hours ago.They're working down there, and things look pretty tidy. You can't see it in the video, but the gap fillers seem to be intact -- the parts that you step on anyway; can't comment on the mechanism. The door to the new part of the station is visible at the end. The passage is narrow and has a couple of steps. I think it might require some nontrivial construction before that could be used an entrance... |

One half still goes to where the former ferry terminal entrance mezzanine was located, but is currently being turned into retail space, apparently. The other half was walled off and leads to some office space that was built, with a door leading to the bus loop just outside the terminal. |

Compare my video from yesterday to this video, from last month. If you look really closely, in the older video there's a doorknob on the right-hand side of the door. Looks like it used to open right-to-left, presumably into the loop station.There's no "authorized personnel" sign in the old video either. This is also consistent with them flipping the door around -- presumably in that older video the sign is on the other side, where it would have warned people in the open area not to attempt to enter the closed area. Where it is now makes no sense. I wonder why they would flip the door around. |
