"468 Stations, 842 Miles" is my latest project. It's a track diagram of the New York City subway system, generated automatically from a text file.

Check it out!

Very nice work.

I just wanted to point out that between Bronx Park East and East 180th Street during the AM rush while 5 trains run express in the Bronx, 2 trains use the newly aligned track to avoid direct conflicts with 5 trains from Dyre. It's difficult to explain but they switch over to the first track next to the 5 flyover then come back in before approaching East 180th Street. All other times, 2 trains will use the normal inbound track between Bronx Park East and East 180th Street.

The pocket track between Myrtle and Halsey on the Canarsie line - shouldn't there be an additional connection to the southbound track like this (in red)?

I guess it was made so that Q2 can be used as a northbound terminal track at Myrtle.

If Myrtle were to be used as a southbound terminal, trains could just relay on Q3.

I use to ride the 2 train everyday to go to work in the early 90's and remember seeing trains sitting there during the middle of the day, I guess for scrubbing down.

Though maybe it was torn down with the changes that occurred there recently.

They sometimes did it even before the reconstruction, maybe they are doing it more regularly now. It definitely makes things easier for the passengers when neither train has to wait for the other to go first.

Nothing similar can be done on the northbound side, since there is no flyover there. But an extra minute's delay is more acceptable to most people on the way home than it is on the way to work.

Many thanks for that superb map. A couple of minor corrections:
Chambers St on the J/Z: replace the scissors crossover at the north end of the northbound platform with a simple crossover going from the northbound "local" track to the northbound "express" track.
Lafayette Av on the A/C: At the east end of the station add a crossover from the Manhattan bound local to the Manhattan bound express track, and a crossover from the Queens bound local to the Queens bound express track.
Looking forward to your next version when A service is restored to the Rockaways.
