Posted by chuchubob on Sat Jun 30 09:50:57 2012 The last operating SL II, 9010, and III, 235, worked the Cynwyd Line together on Friday. The Cynwyd Line normally uses two single cars, but since 9010 and 235 worked together, SL V 710 was used for the other train.train 1083 at Suburban Station prior to departure for Cynwyd train 1083 at Cynwyd train 1087 at Cynwyd last revenue train for the last SL II and last SL III SEPTA was kind enough to return the Philly passengers on the non-revenue return trip, normally a deadhead run into the west end of Powellton Yard. Weren't there 2 version of the SL-3, half intended for Harrisburg service ?What was the 1st line the Pennsy SL-2's were used on ? I think subsidies kicked in line by line, so they could not run everywhere. I seem to remember slogans like "Operation Northwest" for Manayunk or something like that. |

Photo stops, express runs, hanging out the windows, etc, etc, it just had the added benefit of being free. Ironically with what next day Amtrak Regional prices what they are this free fantrip cost me 3 times as much as the NRHS Charter. :-( |
