I have been on 2726 numerous times. That is not an R68A rollsign box. It is fashioned our of sheet metal, not plastic, looks to be an in-house job and painted a lighter color than the orginal signbox.

Any one know the story behind why this signbox was replaced?

nice pix

2726 was damaged in a collision many years ago with a piece of work equipment @ Fort Hamilton Pky. "N" line.

What are the chances for some R32 or similar still running in Summer 2013 (next planned trip)
Thanks

They'll be running next summer...........and the summer after that...........and the summer after that..........and a few more summers.

They could be on the A instead of the C if last summers' pattern repeats itself............unless they did a proper fix on the cars getting SMS'ed.

They would probably put less mileage on them if they were assigned to the M, and they could sleep all weekend. Just need a new south sign reading. Have Pitkin and ENY swap 18 8-car trains plus spares.

That would cost $$$$ since equipment would have to be imported and exported for weekend OPTO.

Not necessarily. Weekend M OPTO started before the arrival of the R160s with R143s from the L, didn't it?

Yes, and the importation of R143's cost them money then too.

That money was saved from the budget when the M got R160's.

I see what you mean. I thought you meant importing them back from Pitkin. My mistake.

No, leave the M shuttle with R160's nites and weekends. But the majority of M's train sets could be R32's and would accumulate less mileage and less frequent maintenance, which is $$$$ saved.
