I tend to spend my useless free time reading about other systems in a vain attempt to figure out where to go next on my quest to ride (and photograph) strange trains in strange places... |

I'll be there on the opening days also. It's been a while since I've been to Pittsburgh so time for a trip to celebrate the opening. |

That's what I get for sitting on all of mine and not processing them and posting them. I do have some different angles though - I took some from Heinz Field. I'll try to post them soon. |

FasTracks FTW!!!!That's the main reason I'm holding out for Denver. Once FasTracks opens up, there will be enough to justify flying out there for a weekend trip along with some roadgeeking along I-70 to see Glenwood Canyon and the Eisenhower Tunnel. FWIW, I'm waiting for LACMTA to open up Expo to visit out there with San Diego, for Houston and Dallas to build up their respective networks even further to complete both cities on the same trip*, and for Toronto to finally get modern streetcars from Bombardier. I really couldn't be bothered with Phoenix, and Salt Lake City despite having multiple lines is really a stretch. OTOH, I'd like to see Calgary and Edmonton at work, but only after their respective extensions open up. In contrast, CTA is in stasis right now, and that's the last of the big subway systems** that I have yet to ride. *Yes, with mandatory F-150 rental for the drive between both cities. **NYCTA, SEPTA, BART, MBTA, MARTA, and CTA. One line wonders don't count. :-) |

I'll be there on the opening days also. It's been a while since I've been to Pittsburgh so time for a trip to celebrate the opening.I won't go to the opening, but I'd like to see if I could go this year or next year depending on my circumstances for next year. It's small enough that I don't have to spend lots of time there, and it's close enough that I could easily drive* there on the Turnpike. *Those headways blow, and well, it's the PA Turnpike. How could a roadgeek not want to drive on it? |

You can generally cover Pittsburgh in two days, photographically. If you're only riding about six hours. They have the fantastic Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in nearby Washington, PA which could easily keep you occupied for a day. Unfortunately, the traction action in Pittsburgh is not what it was at one time, when 666 PCC cars plied the city...... |
