Back when the LIRR used that track, the connection to the Montague Tunnel had not yet been built and all the BMT trains both Eastern and Southern stub ended there. The Jamaica trains used the present J4 and J2 tracks and the Trains from over the Manny B used the present J1 and J3 tracks. |
