I don't remember rot and ruin on the grand scale we see today - I DO remember DIMNESS and a very VERY creepy feeling, especially in the part of station with the high ceiling. I remember as a little kid being scared of the place when we'd travel back from Brooklyn to Jamaica. That all changed once the flourescent lights came on in '61.

I think the original lighting should be restored - at least in part - with metal halide lamps instead of incandescent. And NOT with the kind of "Big Box Store" fixtures they put in at Sutphin/Archer and Jamaica Center.
