I know that footbridge, a friend of mine used to live in the apartment building just next to it.It doesn't look like the same bridge but there being a replacement makes sense. If the closure of the station would have resulted in a division in the community, there would have been pressure to keep it open. Then it would need to be replaced like any other rr bridge. As for why it never graduated into a full blown overpass, it would have made 67th ave join the likes of 63rd drive and 71st ave, and I doubt the highly residential area would ever approve of that, let alone desire it. |
