During all times of SIR operation, the SIR trains attempt to meet the Manhattan bound and the arriving Staten Island ferries. During the rush hours there are additional trains that arrive "between the boats".

During the regular day and nights, when the boats on every half-hour -- the trains run every half-hour. During the midnight hours the SIR trains run once an hour just like the ferries.

However on Saturday and Sunday nights when after 7pm or 7:30pm until when the boats run every hour, the SIR trains run every half-hour until about 10pm or so. This is similar to the time when on weekend mornings the boats ran once every hour, and the trains were every half-hour. Now since the boats start running every half-hour so do the SIR trains on the weekends.

Of course this refers to the posted schedule - real world experience may be different. Hope this helps.

Mike
