Thats the South Chicago branch of Metra Electric, the former Illinois Central electrified commuter line. It's not really street running as the tracks are in a median not shared with the automobiles. The line is in the middle of 71st ST from Dorchester AV (1400 E.) to Yates BL (2400 E.) then turns and runs southeasterly in Exchange AV to 79th ST (7900 S.) where it enters private right of way the rest of the way to the end terminal. Theoverhead catenary is 1500 v. DC.David |
