I remember the days of flat wheeled R16's and bad track in the early 80's. The noise now is not what it was back then, and we still got used to it.When the track lubricators were not working in Cypress Hills, we could hear the screaching all the way in Woodhaven as the trains approached. Speaking of noisy curves, nothing screached louder than the IRT trains at East Tremont Ave. It must've drove the zoo animals nuts. |
