BTW ... MJ ... based on that logic, wouldn't it have made more sense to give the M the MJ monicker since the MJ

There wasn't a whole lot of deep though given to the asignment of route lettes for Chrystie Street. The "J" in "MJ" was for "Myrtle-Jay (St) and had nothing to do with the Jamaica Line.
