They handled all day service just fine as I did run them out of 145 to the end of life. The R10s seemed a little more reliable after the first of the bad apples were retired. The cars left for the last 5 or 6 trains were essentially all live motors as the fantrip proved. I had a consist in early 1989 with 2951 where there was one or two cars with spotted wheels as opposed to the entire train having flats. I'm not sure if that was due to a bulletin issued by RTO on a two second delay between going to coast and brake initiation for those cars, or certain crews were getting them but in the end it wasn't they were going downhill, they were just going out.
