I guess I wasn't clear on the design issue I was talking about with the Williamsburgh. In suspension bridges, the cables support three spans; two side spans (between the anchorages and the towers) and the center span (between the towers). The Williamsburgh only suspends the main span. The side spans are deck girder bridges, your standard highway overpass.

The Outerbridge Crossing and Goethals Bridge are also cantilever.
