LIC HAS to be used, as the Montauk Branches original charter REQUIRES passenger service to traverse the Montauk Branch. The Montauk Branch can't serve HP Ave, so LIC wins. If one closes it will be HP Ave not LIC. I don't see them keeping both open after ESA, as remember, even if the many diesel trains are still are routed via the mainline, they can get to LIC station. |
