Apple and Starbucks have been able to project an image of progressiveness, despite their crass corporate behavior. Target and Ikea are owned by Europeans, their model of Nirvana. One who thinks that Ikea is the model of "responsible" Scandanavian behavior should really read up on how it's founder has avoided paying taxes by setting up a fake charity to act as a parent company for most IKEA stores. Wal Mart, OTOH is consistently one of the most charitable big companies in America, donating nearly a quarter of a billion dollars to various charities in 2007 alone. |
