I drove through there today and was going to take a picture from where we suspect this may be, but it would have put me smack in the middle of Atlantic Avenue, and unlike other areas of the railroad, this section has not been denuded. Today, one cannot see from that point to the Bellerose station, so a picture from today probably would not be very instructive. However, the terrain of Atlantic Avenue matches what we see in the picture, and the distance to Bellerose seemed to be about right.The appointments of the station, assuming it was temporary, may have come from a permanent station that was removed during construction. I also suppose a 5-car train makes sense if it is the Hempstead branch. Presumably, even back then, the Main Line would have had longer trains. |
