By the time the R-9s received new end route signs, it had become TA policy not to display destinations on the ends of trains since the R-40s and 42s no longer displayed them. The original IND end destination signs were retained however and merely turned to blank. When I was a M/M on the 14 St Line, I would turn the end sign on my Canarsie bound trips to read "Rockaway Park" since that was close to the actual side sign reading of Rockaway Parkway." |
