It cost PLENTY ... and unlike before, where the TA purchased HUGE lots of military surplus paint, they spent this time ... the reason was that the good Doctor Ronan, appointed by Rockefeller, wanted ALL of his lovely electric trains to ALL have that fine "Metropolitan" scheme with which his mighty M-1's appeared, right down to the garbage flats. :(If you remember the stainless with BLUE striping on the LIRR when the meatball first took over, he wanted EVERYTHING to look just like those cars. It was HIS way of "marking his territory." That's ALL there was to it. I was working there in 1970 and 1971 which was around the time that Ronan, mighty leader of the LIRR, got word that he also owned a subway. :( |
