Sayville has space to build a new terminal station, and ridership drops considerably east of it. It's also the last station before the line merges into a single track. That's why I suggest electrification end there. West Hempstead service sucks because there's no demand, not because the bad service limits demand. Even hourly service to Penn Station would not bring the ridership seen on other branches, like Long Beach or Hempstead. None of the stations have any real parking capacity. |
