For reference sake, the "+" means half minute. There should be a lot of regular riders on vacation/taking days off this week so there should be lots of room for passengers, railfans and foamers. The way the E performs, don't expect the train to be following those intervals all day due to general lateness of the railroad. I would expect it to be an interval or two behind after the AM rush, if not, it's a miracle. If the crew isn't qualified, there are special R160 crews or the TD can get a crew to "jump ahead". No doubt a TSS will be assigned to ride all day, as well as other support staff since it's one thing getting qualifed and another thing to operate it for the first time by yourself in service. This is a completely different concept and I know for myself once I operate one for the first time I'll be on eggshells. I hope to be qualified sometime in 2009. I'm not looking forward to it, but it's a necessary evil. Putting up and taking down those springs in between the units is dangerous and is an injury waiting to happen IMO. Notice the M7's on LIRR/MNCRR have panograph gates, much safer for the employee.
