Not really.....from what the report shows, he (the engineer) was at fault and in the wrong. He should have either sent the message while waiting at the previous station stop, or in the next stop. Irresponsible. And yeah, I have seen my fair share of engineers and motormen on the cell while operating, though not texting but nonetheless distracting, and kinda unnerving. The only thing the railfan shouldn't have done is respond. And the name foamers......lol funny!! I call myself a railfan when off duty, not a foamer, which sounds more like a reference to a rabid animal. :-D |
