If I understand correctly, the train stopped at Chatsworth station, which happens to be about halfway along a long siding or short stretch of double track -- maybe 11500 ft. The train pulls out of the station on straight track and continues on straight track to the signal, which is about a mile north of the station.

So no question of the signal being hidden around a bend-- right?
