Posted by randyo on Mon Aug 11 19:21:44 2008, in response to LIRR/NYCR MP54's, posted by Flxible Bus Authority on Mon Aug 11 11:46:06 2008. The "MP" designation was strictly Pennsy nomenclature descrbing the car as a Motor Passenger car with a 54 ft long passenger compartment excluding the end vestibules. Thus the Newark extension cars (Mc Adoos) which belonged to the PRR and not the H & M were designated MP41 and the PRR counterparts of the H & M K cars were designated MP51 since the entire car was available to passengers since they lacked vestibules. |
