"The 6th Ave express was perhaps the most expensive to build in the system up until that time,"It required underpinning the local tracks for the entire length of the new express track. If I were to hazard a guess, that was more expensive than dropping the new 63rd St line under the East River (parts of that were premanufactured, floated into place and dropped under the waves). |
