"So you're saying it should take months, maybe years to repair a broken escalator?"I'm saying the escalators I rode were out of service, collectively, all of them, six times out of 90 days, and were back in service in less than a day. I do agree that MTA took too long to put some escalators in the system back in service. "The main escalator at Parsons J/E was out-of-service for at least six months, and may still out-of-service." I'm sorry to hear that. It did not malfunction for me when I was there last, which was three years ago. "63/Lex might be the deepest station in the system, so working escalators should be a priority at this station. Sadly, they're not." How do you know? Without knowing what's wrong with them you don't know what needs to be done to fix them. Im not saying MTA is blameless. The agency is not, and it's record on escalators bears improvement. I'm saying that the discussion here on escalatrors, same as in trains, veers toward "MTA is a bunch of idiots and if only we foamers were in charge we'd fix everything right quick!" |
