It could be done today if NYCT would do things like deploy platform conductors at major terminii like Continental to speed fumigation. For trains that are relaying back into service, put the reverse operator on at the terminal, which would save the time it would take to walk the train to change ends. At Continental this means there could be 2 lines dropping out, with a third going through to 179th on the local with little or no hassle.Of course, NYCT doesn't see the world this way. They will nickel and dime RTO when it comes to personnel, but won't think twice about dropping mondo dinero on studies to study previous studies...or letting loose all sorts of inefficiencies and managerial deficiences so capital projects can only but come in late and over-budget. Y'all vote for the people who put the management in... |
