Cops don't mess with people for no reason.Not true. When I was a little kid, my father told me that he was once arrested for absolutely no reason. (This probably happened in the 1930s.) He was just walking down the street when all of a sudden, everyone else started to run when the cops were approaching. My father didn't run because he did nothing wrong, so he was arrested! The police just figured he was "with the others." I doubt it if much has changed since. If you're a person of color, it is only worse. I'm not saying it happens all the time or that cops are bad, but a generalization like that just isn't true. |
