De[pends on what equipment you're talking about.I would predict that most tank crews in the Gulf today would tell you the M1A1 and M1A2 Abrams tank was the most cost-effective purchase the Army ever made. It's changed the odds of being injured or killed to the point where tank crews can largely expect to come home in one piece. It's the kind of assurance preceding tanks (Sherman through M60) could never offer. And they'd be right. |
