Are you saying that Staten Island Only mattered to the city because they DUMPED TRASH THERE? Yes. Their population's tax base is insufficient to cover the costs of city services provided. Simply put, it costs NYC more to maintain SI as a part of the city with little or no benefit to the other 4 boros. This is why SI would never really vote to seceede. It can't pay for the levels of city services it currently gets by itself. I don't mean to sound cruel. I'm just stating the cold, hard facts. |
