If you look carefully from theS/B platforms at Bay Ridge Av and 77 St you can actually see under the N/B platform since it is dead space where the N/B tracks would have been. Also if yo stand on the platform at 86 St facing the east wall of the station you will observe what appear to be employee safety niches ehich are bricked up. These bricked up safety niches exist all the way up the east wall to a point just north of the bridge over the railroad but are not easily seen except possibly from the RFW of an R-32 and even then at high speed they are not as visible. Also, before the platform extnsions of the 1960s, short spaces for at least one additional N/B track was visible at the ends of the platforms at Bay Ridge Av and 77 St stations. According to a NYS PSC report circa 1917, Bkln Edison Co was building circuit breaker chambers under the east side of 4 Av and was requested by the PSC to build these as sections of subway tunnel in the event they would need to be reclaimed for future subway expansion. Some BMT old timers have claimed that the tunnels for the N/B tracks actually exist as far as 86 St. The bricked up safety niches semm to indicate that at least some sections of these trackways may actually have been built.
