After the Sea Beach tracks go down south of 59 Street, the 4 Avenue tracks sharply come in on themselves, as if taking the place of "express" tracks.IINM, they actually take the place of the southbound tracks -- i.e. they're entirely under the west side of 4th Av. Yes, the gap was for two extra tracks, and, yes, 86th St is half an express station! |
