They can be most impressive. One of the things I did during my in between shifts layovers at Coney was hanging out in the shops and watching them tear them down, grind the wheels, replace them on the axles, pull motors and dozens of other truly remarkable things as part of the routine maintenance. What was difficult to fathom at first is that a pair of trucks is the majority of a subway car's operating weight. |
