I'm asking can the MTA get specially designed 60' trains just for the 7.Been there done that. The TA already experimented with a "stretch" 60ft car. It was an old R-12 numbered XC-875. It was much like the arnine XC-575 with the steel beams in the middle that added length to the ends. I don't know if it was ever tested or not but I saw the beast myself in the scrap line at NYCH yard at 1st Ave in the early 1980's. So I guess the experiment died. Bill "Newkirk" |
