During the height of the evening rush, there's sometimes not enough time to change the signs in my nearest two cars! Think about it, when that train comes into Times Square - 42 Street (ESPECIALLY on Track 2), as soon as those doors open, the crowd rushes on. The C/R has to wait for an opening to board the car, make his way to the first rollsign, ask people nearby to shuffle over so he doesn't insert the crank up their nose, change the sign, and then make his way over to the next sign.Oh by the way, he got the starting lights 50 seconds ago, and there's three trains in a conga line outside the station waiting to get in. These new LED signs, while not exactly aesthetically pleasing, should help alleviate the confusion of whether the train is local or express, by always taking precedence over the rollsigns themselves. |
