The passageway was sealed when Gimbles was closed (more or less) It was on Gimbles' property, through their building as a matter of fact, albeit under the sidewalk. When the building was closed the tunnel had to be closed. The present owners have found no need or reason to endure the expense of opening, patrolling and maintaining it. It does appear to have been changes since it was built: The tiles are gone, and the cinder blocks are new. When that building was build cinder blocks had not yet come into existence or usage. It may be kept as a utilities tunnel, or maybe Vorando Realty will do something with it as the rebuild the Hotel PA into something else. But it is their tunnel and only they can open it again, if ever.ROAR |
