Even apart from any architectural value, the bigger loss is of another hotel-- so many have been lost or converted to condos that NYC has trouble competing for conventions. Vegas, Orlando and Atlanta all have more available hotel rooms than NYC and we lose a lot of good business because of it.

Even if New York had far more hotel rooms it still would have a hard time attracting conventions because the Javits Center is so small.
