Oh well.

The TA and St. Louis Car tried to do too much too soon on the R44 project: a high speed train (it did achieve 88 mph in speed trials in Jan 1972, a world record), p-wire technology, new carbody design (to achieve the corporate look) etc. Still, the now retired folks from St. Louis Car and Foundry deserve commendation for theircontributions to railcar innovations.
