It's not really a waste of money at all. Other valid reasons were mentioned, but this approach also allows for a climate-controlled platform. I've stood on enough bitter-cold platforms in winter and on enough near-boiling-hot platforms in summer to appreciate the value of a fully-enclosed platform. |
