That tall structure on the station house used to house the dynamos for the Huntington Co (forgot the exact name) trolley that ran from there out Conklin St to Rt 110. I believe up to Huntington and also down to Amityville.

I was told by a retired LIRR friend of mine years ago that the 600 volt equipment may still be there. I've never been up there to see so I can say for sure.

When the Farmingdale station was restored years ago, the old ceramic cone shaped insulators that were protruding from the building were removed. Also the protruding remnants of the steel structure that carried the 600 volt cables over the tracks were ground down and sealed over. Today you can't see these reminders of the traction past.

The station's stainless steel roof shingles were replicated and restored as new.

I now live a block from the station.
