The extension of the letters began in 1960 with the R27. Q was given the honor and logically (Q) would be the express and (QQ) would designate a local. However, QQ quickly became (QB) and (QT). Literally, Q via Bridge and Q via Tunnel. Neat huh? According to Mr. Joseph Brennan's page the (QB) ran 1960-1985, the (QT) ran 1960-1967, the (Q) ran 1964-1967 and since 1986 and the (QJ) ran 1967-1976. I read in Wikipedia that the (QJ) was created by merging the (J) and (QT) routes. |
