From a previous message: "The R is just one of those route you love to hate."

The gest of many of the messages on forums such as this is that local routes suck. Why? Because they are local routes, when so many here in their proposals love to create express trains. Look at the discussions about the J/Z route and a proposed 1 track express to be built, or the talk about the F or V route in Brooklyn and possible express service to/from Church Avenue, or recent discussions about the #1 route. Need we say more about the V line? Again, the gest of the messages is the local routes suck.

The basic problem with all of these "express" proposals is that for an express route to by-pass some stations, a local route has to stop at those stations. When was the last time that anyone here proposed a "new local route" with all of the fan-fare and discussion that the "new express route" usually gets? A single sentence in a message does not count such as, "Oh yeah, we should extend the G train to Church Avenue as a local, yeah...." Expecially after 5-9 messages about the F or V train as express to/from Church Avenue or Kings Highway - and a major discussion about the switches at Kings Highway.

What's "wrong" with the R train - simple. It is not an express route. In the eyes of so many here - that is a major sin.

Mike
