Because they are local routes, when so many here in their proposals love to create express trains. Look at the discussions about the J/Z route and a proposed 1 track express to be built, or the talk about the F or V route in Brooklyn and possible express service to/from Church Avenue, or recent discussions about the #1 route. Need we say more about the V line? Again, the gest of the messages is the local routes suck. The basic problem with all of these "express" proposals is that for an express route to by-pass some stations, a local route has to stop at those stations. When was the last time that anyone here proposed a "new local route" with all of the fan-fare and discussion that the "new express route" usually gets? A single sentence in a message does not count such as, "Oh yeah, we should extend the G train to Church Avenue as a local, yeah...." Expecially after 5-9 messages about the F or V train as express to/from Church Avenue or Kings Highway - and a major discussion about the switches at Kings Highway. What's "wrong" with the R train - simple. It is not an express route. In the eyes of so many here - that is a major sin. Mike |
