The E is not the most popular line.It's what I call a trail line. Except for a couple of stations past Union Tpke to Jamaica Center and stops along 53St, the E is simply a a trail for other trains. It provides supplemental service to other lines which mainly provide service to those stations. It's not a unique line like the F which has many stations which are served only by that train. Plus, if they would provide more express service to the J line during rush hours, Lower Manhattan riders wouldn't have a reason to take the E because the J would take them faster. The E is a decent line but its not one of the most vital in terms of the entire line usage. If the E is not running there are alternatives; not like the F or A which is solely responsible for subway service in certain neighborhoods. |
